The neighbours, on the other side of us, had a party last night and they didn't even invite us.

Not that we actually know them, but still. One would think for good neighbourly relations they'd have had the courtesy to think of us, especially since we shared their music, laughter and shrieking well into the early hours of this morning.
Having pondered over this for days, I can only imagine they’ve heard my husband playing his most favourite Righteous Brothers and Pussycat CD’s and decided we’re not their type.

I, too, am suffering from noisy neighbours. In my case, they're actually in my *house*. (My new housemates, students, are very studenty (leaving the place a tip, playing music loudly, staying up until 5am etc etc).
My answer, a happy alternative to mass-murder which might get frowned upon by my landlady, is....this.
